When your gutters are installed, we have some pointers that can help you out. Our team at Express Gutters will be there with you through every step of the installation process to ensure you have a comfortable, successful installation day!
- First, you will need to decide on a day to do the gutter installation. Summer is usually recommended, since leaves are less plentiful, which makes your home well-prepared for the fall and winter months. You should also pick a dry day with no rain in the forecast.
- Old gutters will be removed and discarded, and the area will be prepped for new gutters if necessary. This includes checking for any stray screws or nails and sanding any spots that may need to be smoothed.
- Your gutter installation expert will examine each slope of your roof to determine the correct fit for each gutter. This step is crucial because an incorrect fit could mean leaky or pooling water.
- Roof sections will be measured carefully, and gutters will be cut to exact size. A seamless fit is essential, so this step is vital. The gutter sections and supporting parts will then be attached to the fascia or the roof. The gutters are attached with either special nails called “spikes” or screws.
- Next, gutters and pieces such as the miter joints, downspout guides, endcap points, and fastener joints will be sealed with a waterproof sealant. The sealant is typically a rubber caulk that withstands heat and cold well and remains flexible once dry.
Your gutter installation will then be complete, and your gutters will be ready to use. We would love to install gutters for your new build or replace your old gutters for you. Just call us to schedule your estimate appointment.
