Why Asheville Homeowners Choose Express Gutters for Installation
A lot of gutter companies around here sub the install out to a crew the estimator has never met. The person who measured your house is not the person who shows up to fabricate it, and small details get lost between them.
We do not work that way. Devon, our estimator, spent years running a crew before he moved to sales. He measures your roof, and our own employees install what he quoted.
If we see a low spot on the fascia, a downspout location that will dump water against the foundation, or a section that needs a different bracket layout, we flag it before we cut a single piece of aluminum.
Our 1-year craftsmanship warranty covers seam leaks, hanger spacing, downspout connections, and the brackets that hold the gutter to your house. It rarely gets called on because we size the system to the roof, not to the cheapest bid.
Aluminum coil, baked-on color, matched downspouts. Standard, every job.

What the Installation Process Looks Like
No pre-cut materials shipped to your house. The machine comes to you.
Here's what a standard installation day looks like: We show up with the roll-forming machine, the installation crew, and the materials for your job. If old gutters are coming down, we remove them first and inspect the fascia boards underneath. Rotted or damaged fascia gets flagged before we put anything up — we're not going to install new gutters over boards that won't hold them. Any fascia repairs are quoted on the spot and can usually be done the same day.
Once the fascia is confirmed solid, we snap a chalk line to set the proper pitch — gutters need a slight slope toward the downspout to drain correctly. Then we run the gutter machine. The coil feeds in one end, the profile is formed, and the gutter comes out cut to the exact length we need. No splices. No waste. The gutters go up, downspouts are cut and fitted, and we test drainage with water before we leave.
The whole thing typically takes a few hours to a full day depending on your home's size and roofline complexity. We leave the site clean. The NC Department of Environmental Quality notes that unmanaged roof runoff is one of the primary contributors to residential stormwater issues in North Carolina — correctly pitched, properly sized gutters are your first line of defense.

5-Inch, 6-Inch, or 7 inch Gutters: Why Size Matters in Asheville
Some say size doesn't matter, but when it comes to water management, gutter size does. Too small, and your neighbors laugh at you as water flows over the sides. Too big and they look out of place.
Roof pitch determines how fast water moves into the gutter during a storm. WNC mountain homes frequently have steeper pitches than coastal or midwestern homes — 6:12 and steeper is common in Weaverville, Swannanoa, and across the Asheville ridge neighborhoods. On a steep pitch, water comes off the roof faster and in a higher volume than a flat pitch would produce. A 5-inch gutter is already running near capacity in that situation before the storm peaks.
Six-inch gutters have roughly 40 percent more capacity than 5-inch. The cost difference between the two sizes is modest. The performance difference on a heavy WNC rain event is real. For the majority of Asheville homes — especially older homes in North Asheville, East Asheville, or any lot with significant canopy and slope — we recommend 6-inch.
For larger mountain homes with expansive roof surfaces, multiple roof valleys, or pitches steeper than 8:12, we often recommend 7-inch gutters. Seven-inch is less common and most gutter companies in the area don't offer it, but it's the right tool for high-volume drainage situations. If your house sits on a ridge, has a large footprint, or sheds water in ways that have overwhelmed previous gutters, 7-inch is worth discussing.
We install 5-inch, 6-inch, and 7-inch seamless gutters and recommend the right size based on what we actually see at your home during the estimate — not a one-size-fits-all default. We also size downspouts correctly for the load. A 6-inch gutter draining into an undersized downspout defeats the purpose. We pair gutter size to downspout size and space downspouts based on the actual drainage area of each roof section.

Gutter Styles We Install
K-Style Gutters
This is the most popular style. The front has a decorative shape that looks like crown molding. The flat back sits flush against your fascia board
K-style gutters hold more water than round gutters. They work great for most homes in Western North Carolina..

Half-Round Gutters
These are the classic half-circle gutters you see on older homes. They have a smooth, rounded shape that looks great on historic and craftsman-style houses.
Half-round gutters are easy to clean because debris does not get stuck in corners. They are a solid choice if you want a traditional look.

European Box Gutters
Box gutters have a modern, square profile. They hold more water than K-style and half-round options.
We install European box gutters for homeowners who want a clean, contemporary look. They are also popular for commercial buildings.

Gutter Materials We Use
Aluminum Gutters
Aluminum is the most common choice. It is lightweight, rust-proof, and lasts 20+ years with basic maintenance. We offer aluminum gutters in over 20 colors. You can match your trim, your roof, or your siding.
Copper Gutters
Copper gutters are the premium option. They last 50+ years and develop a natural patina over time. If you want gutters that stand out and add curb appeal, copper is worth the investment.
Why Seamless Gutters Hold Up Better in Western NC
Asheville gets more than 47 inches of rain per year — more than Seattle, more than most of the Southeast coast. When a mountain thunderstorm rolls in off the Blue Ridge and drops 2 inches in 45 minutes, your gutters have one job: move all of that water off your roof, away from your fascia, and away from your foundation. Seams make that harder.
Sectional gutters are assembled from pre-cut pieces connected with slip joints and sealed with caulk. Every seam is a weak point. The sealant breaks down over three to five years, especially on the temperature swings WNC sees between July and January. Once the joints start leaking, water gets behind the fascia, into the siding, and in some cases down the wall cavity. The rot that follows is significantly more expensive to fix than the gutters were.
Seamless gutters eliminate most of that. We pull up to your house with a roll-forming machine in the truck, feed in a coil of aluminum, and fabricate the gutter on-site to the exact length of each roofline section. One continuous piece. The only seams are at the corners and at downspout connections, where seams are unavoidable. Everything else runs clean. Lee Pegram and Zeke Wyatt started Express Gutters in Fletcher in 2020, and the crew has put in over 2,000 seamless gutter installations across Buncombe, Henderson, and Haywood counties since.

FAQ: Seamless Gutter Installation in Asheville, NC
Q1. How much does seamless gutter installation cost in Asheville?
It depends on your home's linear footage, gutter size, roofline complexity, and number of stories. Copper and specialty materials run more than aluminum. We'd rather give you a firm number based on your actual home — every estimate is free. Call (828) 367-9006 to schedule.See our full installation FAQ for more details.
Q2. What's the difference between seamless and sectional gutters?
Sectional gutters are pieced together with seams every 10-12 feet. Those seams leak over time as sealant breaks down. Seamless gutters are fabricated in one continuous piece to fit your roofline exactly. Fewer leak points, longer life, especially in WNC's high-rainfall environment.
Q3. Should I get 5-inch, 6-inch, or 7-inch gutters?
Six-inch for most Asheville homes. Western NC gets 47+ inches of rain per year and steep mountain pitches move water fast. Seven-inch is the right call for large mountain homes with big roof surfaces, multiple valleys, or pitches above 8:12. We install all three sizes and recommend based on your specific home. Five-inch is rarely the right choice for this climate.
Q4. How long does installation take?
One day for most homes. We fabricate on-site so there's no waiting on pre-cut materials. Smaller homes with straightforward rooflines often finish in half a day.
Q5. How long do gutters last?
Properly installed seamless aluminum gutters last 20-30 years in WNC conditions. Copper lasts 50+ years. Installation quality matters more than material in most cases. We back all installations with a 1-year craftsmanship warranty.
